Well we all survived the 11+ hr flight from Nadi Fiji wasn't too bad no room to spread out as flight was full.
As this was our second night flight in succession we are all a bit zoned out.
Didn't intend to rush thru US customs etc so didn't but then had to wait a fair while for the shuttle bus to come around for our car rental.
We got to the car rental which was a bit slow as they decided they should clean the car so another wait of 15 - 20 mins.
Finally headed of to navigate our way to Venice beach with an intention to walk to Santa Monica Pier have dinner and return to Venice Beach. The traffic was a little slow close to the coast and parking was a premium but got lucky in a back street with a short walk to the beach.
We got our bearings and could see the pier way off in the distance and immediately we nope!
We took a local stroll and mingled with other tourists the buskers and ill at ease! $18 for ice creams for all. Then back to the car for a short drive to Santa Monica pier this proved to be a bit longer as wrong lanes and ended up on the FWY.
Found a parking lot right next to the pier for $12.
Had a stroll along the pier and the kids were allowed to have 1 ride each on the fair ground type rides.
Emily and Harry had a short and no very eventful ride as they were on their own on the bumper cars but William and Mum ended up having an extra ride on the roller coaster as it was very quiet.
We then headed back down the pier and into Santa Monica shopping area for some where to eat that wasn't burgers and ended up in a food Crt having spaghetti and meatballs for the boys and Burritos for the rest. No one ended up being really hungry so a fair bit was left over. No time for hanging around thou as we needed to head back to the airport. Back in the car night time and wrong turns etc meant we were getting a bit tight for time (Note to self, Need new navigator). Then just as we were getting close to the car return the gas gauge ticked over so we then had to get some fuel which was easier said than done. We back tracked about a mile to a gas station and then we wanted to pay with our regular credit card so following the instructions on the bowser it said pay later so we waited etc etc no petrol. Went in side to find out they were having a shift changer so waited etc then I decided to pay cash. Any way got the car back all good then had to wait for the shuttle bus and were told any thing from 15 to 25 minutes. Great.
Then only waited about 10 for the bus. Check in was easy at Air Tran as the only ones for the last flight of the day. 23:59 to Atlanta another 4 1/2 hrs in the air.
